I drove through Woodward Avenue last night... and it's Dream Cruise season once again. The people on the street cheer as you drive by and they are very optimistic. In fact, they are over optimistic... for car fans, this is like Christmas. I also noticed something else and that is a lot of empty commecial real estate. I mean, there is A LOT of empty spaces where proud stores used to stand. Now there are a lot of signs up in the windows looking for new tenants. But there aren't any new businesses moving in.....
REDEFINING THE TIMES WE LIVE IN
A lot of the restaurants and retail stores are just months from closing their doors. Many of them live on the threads of existence and are looking for opportunities to keep the doors opened. Somewhere through all of that fear and panic is a jewelry store in Waterford, Michigan that is helping businesses and home owners take care of the necessities.
There are a lot of upscale bars that expired in recent days... Barrio Tacos and Tequilla Bar bit the dust in Birmingham, MI, and so did the popular bar on the corner of 15 mile and Woodward. Its overwhelming. There are a lot of things that can go wrong in a kitchen environment such as faulty equipment, air conditioning or a blown stove. Sometimes those things are just enough to make a restaurant go into the red and make you lose out on the months rent.
The program at Ronnie's Jewelers and Loans has taken the role of an active bank that cares. They have set up a program for businesses like these and offer a cash loan program. They take mercy on the business owner and can save the day. It is a very discreet process. They are aggressively promoting the program on the web.
They are doing this for home owners too. The deal here is that many home owners have a difficult time coming up with the property taxes. The county clerk will not take a down payment when it comes to this sort of transaction. The clerks at the Farmington Hills, MI office will deny it but I saw them turn away a home owner because he was 50 bucks short of paying off his entire property tax bill.
