Following in the steps of numerous municipalities throughout the country and state, the town of Breckenridge has implemented a fee for reducing disposable bags in Breckenridge.
The ten cent fee will be levied on each single use bag issued to customers at all retail stores in town. The revenue will then be used to further public education and outreach for reducing disposable bags in Breckenridge.

Many hotels and management companies plan to offer reusable bags to guests so they may be a part of the sustainability plan and avoid the fees. The town has launched a public awareness program to educate residents and visitors about the plans for reducing disposable bags in Breckenridge.
