Have you ever wondered what to consider when you hear the words "curb appeal"?  HGTV's Front Door has "Ten Curb Appeal Tips From the Pros" that lists items for homeowners to consider.  For easy reference, here's a shortened version of those tips:

1. Having great photos of your home on the web is crucial.  Around 88 percent of homebuyers start the search process online.  Avoid too much light in photos, and remember to remove any clutter like bicycles on the front porch!

2. During the day and at night, act like a buyer driving both ways by your home.  Take a notepad and pen with you and write     down anything you notice about your home as if you were a potential buyer.  Place special attention at what needs to be repaired, replaced or cleaned.

3.  Look up and pay special attention to the roof.  Notice if any shingles need to be replaced.

4.  If necessary, replace your dirty house numbers, or at least clean and polish them, if metal.

5.  Pressure wash any dirty siding, decks, sidewalks, or driveway, if practical.

6.  Have an attractive landscape with beautiful flowers and potted plants.

7.  Open up any shutters, curtains and blinds.  Homes that look bright and cheerful often sell faster.

8.  Add solar light fixtures along the walkway to highlight homes best exterior features.

9.  Paint the front door, trim and shutters if needed.  Replace anything out front that looks worn out like mailboxes and welcomes mats.

10. Get a second opinion from others.  Often we can become used to seeing exterior defects and no longer notice them!
