I know you hear us inspectors whine and nag about the shubbery is too close to the house. I see it frequently and I know it sounds like we report it all the time. But please take a peek at what can happen when our advise on shrubbery is not taken.
Gene, You give this stuff a little time and no maintenance... look out.
Travis, I hope it never gets to this stage in anyones home but it can and does happen.
Karen, I think it was just from the house sitting with no one around to take care of the plant issue in the begining.
I have seen vines come through the house just like that. The seller had the audacity to say it was leftover from a plant they had sitting near it. PLEASEEE! My buyers moved on to a different house. I also have seen tree limbs work their way into homes. I hate the homes that have the terrariums built in and they actually have trees growing in the middle of the house. All I can think of is mosquitoes and West Nile Virus habitat.
Same difference as previous post about tree limb damage. Can damage the foundation at same time as limbs on the roof.
Here in the west, the shrubbery and water bring termites and it is not a good idea. Great post.
Teresa, there are no excuses just keep the shrubs and trees away from the house. It's to the owners benefit in the long run. You are exactly right. I've blogged on the tree root issue and foundations here before.
Thanks, Rick. With plants comes moisture. Termites love it!
Kathy, Thanks for stopping by. It usually just takes a little regular care???
I would leave a longer comment but have to go do some trimming around the house... Thanks for the warning!
Monique, I'm here to be of service!
Kimo, You never know what's lurking around the corner!
Wow Vince! We have seen ivy get behind the exterior feature, but never into a house. Keep nagging!
I constantly nag on our tenants who seem not to care about such. Usually we end up having to do extensive trimming when they finally move out. I prefer to keep all vegetation at least 2 feet from the home. See what happens when a tenant is in a home too long and does not take care...
Trees and roots can damage the foundation and must be removed. This is a home I took over from someone else and now must solve the issues.
Thanks Bob, but you know what I mean about inspection reports and not everybody takes us seriously.
Hi Vince,
So what's the big deal? Oh I see, the buyer do'es not want to have to mow the living room.
Redneck at it's best right there. :-)
Have a great day in Missouri.
Best, Clint McKie
Hi Vince,
I went to the Click to verify and there was no listing for you....HMMMMM....
Not really, but I had you going.
I just passed the tests for next year. Renewing in July.
Have a great day in Missouri my good friend.
Best, Clint McKie
Put me heart back in my chest, I'll send you the bill...Me too in July. Have a great day your self, are you planning on being my neighbor to the South?
Hello Vince, I bet that was a bit of a surprise...not sure that I've seen that happen. I don't like anything growing on the house and I don't like trees that grow up next to a foundation or the branchs, leaves etc. against a home...so many problems.
