Walkway over the Hudson underbelly from Route 9
The Walkway Over the Hudson is a population destination for many. The old rail road bridge was converted to a pedestrian park almost four years ago, and since then visitors came from near and far to walk high above the Hudson River. I can understand the fascination with this because the walkway offers magnificent views of the river.
It stands at 212 feet high and is 1.28 miles long; and stretches from Poughkeepsie to Highland in Ulster County. This pedestrian park is operated by the NYS Park System. Did you know it is the longest elevated pedestrian bridge in the world?

Recently I was a passenger in a car going down Route 9 and I thought it would be fun to get a shot of the of the Walkway Over the Hudson underbelly, and I did.
So if you have not yet visited the Walkway Over the Hudson you might want to add it to your things to do in the Hudson Valley list. Keep in mind that although this park is open all year due to the elevation certain weather condition will make the park unsafe and it will be closed. Visit the Walkway Over the Hudson website for more information such as direction, where to tune in to find out if the park is open when the weather is questionable and more
