Lake Norman Lakefront or Lake Norman Waterfront - What do you think?

By

When searching for a home on Lake Norman, do you search for waterfront homes or for lakefront homes?

Locally, our agents and our MLS uses waterfront over lakefront. However, lakefront is used in other parts of the country and it may be more accurate.

Wikipedia defines lakefront as "the land along the edge of a lake" while waterfront is described as "the land on the edge of a body or water". With that in mind, waterfront seems to be a more general term that could include frontage on an ocean, pond, lagoon etc. as well as a lake. It's kind of like "all squares are rectangles but not all rectangles are squares". Following that logic, "all lakefront homes are waterfront homes but not all waterfront homes are lakefront homes."

Which do you prefer?
