Things you love about your town:
The initial appeal of Evans was that it was small, semi-remote and quiet. Some things were a little inconvenient to get to (the Target, the wholesale club, restaurants, etc.) but it was worth it. However, since we moved here in 2005, Evans has been built up so much we're within 15 minutes of everything while still retaining that feeling of being remote. This town, as far as town's go, is brand new. There's a large, new library with an auditorium, a lake, a walking/running path, a playground, a dog park, the new Lady A Amphitheater, a brand new large fitness club, a new Costco, and dozens of restaurants. The crime is very low and the schools are great. Parents are very engaged in their children's education and community participation. There are dozens of things that kids can be involved in here, including a robust swim program where kids of all ages compete neighborhood swim team against neighborhood swim team. The m edical community has pervaded the whole area, including Evans. We have great doctors and facilities very convenient to Evans.

Tell us about your neighborhood:  The nice thing about Stratford is that it's finished. We don't have construction vehicles and workers coming in and out of the neighborhood. There are no empty lots or half finished houses. We have a pool, tennis courts, a clubhouse, an activity field and a playground all in the same area. Everything is included in the HOA dues. It is a great neighborhood to walk in and is connected to neighboring neighborhoods. The neighborhood has a lot of mature trees and it is great for shade and seclusion. The residents here have a lot of pride in the appearance of their property and it adds a lot of value to the living experience here. The neighborhood is very convenient to the elementary and middle schools and is an easy 10 minute drive to the high school (5 miles). By far, for me, the nicest thing about this neighborhood is the peace. We have lived here for 8.5 years and I can't think of a single instance where I was annoyed by any noise. And I'm annoyed by everything.

Where do you love to eat?  We don't normally go out to eat, but when we do, we love Five Guys Burgers and Fries, about 10 minutes from our house. We also like Sho Chins Chinese Restaurant, which is even closer. I personally like Mellow Mushroom  and it's about the same distance as Five Guys. They recently opened two frozen yogurt shops in Evans. Both are delicious, but you have to take a second mortgage on your house to afford dessert. Truth be told, more often than any other restaurant, we love the convenience, price, and absolute splendor of Little Caesars. I also like eating at Firehouse Subs, maybe 5 miles away. There are a ton of cool restaurants downtown; the nice thing about Evans is that we have a straight shot to downtown via Riverwatch Parkway so it's not a bad drive.

Nearby grocery stores and other conveniences:  The closest grocery store is actually the Walmart Supercenter, which is a little under 5 miles away. Within 8 miles, we have a Kroger, 3 Publix grocery stores, and a Target. The Costco isn't much farther, maybe a 15 minute drive. Evans is great now because it was built up with all of the core services. We have a Sparkle Car Wash, a Jiffy Lube, plenty of auto shops and body shops, an Advanced Auto Parts, a Lowes, Home Depot, and ACE Hardware, landscaping supplies (sod, mulch, etc.), plenty of gas stations, self storage facilities, banks, salons, every kind of restaurant, Circle K convenience stores at every corner, a movie theater in town, shoe stores, etc. Pretty much everything you would need. Just not my wife's definition of "need".

What did you love about your property when you bought it?  The pool, hands down. I only looked for houses with pools. Right when we walked in the front door we were in love. So much open space on the main floor. We like to entertain and this is the ideal house for that. There are large windows in the kitchen and living room that provide visibility on the pool area and it has a sizable screened porch. The kitchen was probably the best selling point though. It is large, open, has a breakfast bar (which is well-used), lots of counter space and cabinet space, and allows visibility of both the front and back yards. The bonus room on the third story is also a great feature. We've used it for different things over the years, but it is now our home gym and drum studio. It's a great place for getting away without going away. And kicking a heavy bag. The Master Bedroom is also a great feature. With a sitting room and a separate dressing room and his/her walk-in closets and separate vaniti es in the bathroom, it is a virtual apartment itself. Before I began working from home, the sitting room in the owner's suite was a theater. It was awesome. Maybe we haven't been spoiled with extravagance in the past as pertaining to our home, but we are struck every day by how great this house is.
