Instagram emerged as the seemingly overrated photo-sharing platform just a few years ago. Since then, it has skyrocketed in popularity, and was even purchased by Facebook for over $1 billion dollars. Shockingly, Instagram has proven to be more than a passing trend; it is reinventing itself to comply with user demands.
To compete with social media’s hottest newcomer, Vine (a 6-second video sharing app.), Instagram has now created their own video-sharing option. Instagram videos can be 2.5 times as long as Vine’s, at fifteen seconds.
But is this video-sharing trend leverageable in the Real Estate arena? Yes. Instagram is the premier medium for sharing Real Estate property listing videos for several reasons:
- It’s on trend. Consumers are more than willing to watch Instagram videos because it is what is popular right now.
- It invokes a sense of familiarity with the potential buyer. Buyers are willing to engage with social media, simply because it is familiar to them.
- It is in keeping with the ever-shortening current communication model – i.e. it’s short and sweet. People are less likely to watch a longwinded, fluffy video about a home that is on the market; fifteen second videos are far more digestible, and will garner more views because of this.
Many Real Estate companies have long been keen to Instagram. Companies like Coldwell Banker and ReMax have realized the potential of Instagram’s user-friendly photo-filtering to make their listings seem even more beautiful. Now it is only a matter of time before these and other companies (yours included!) discover and employ the power of Instagram videos in Real Estate.
