If you like a Fourth filled with rockets and aerial displays, you're gonna love this year's Fourth of July schedule of fireworks in the Lower Hudson Valley. Because the holiday falls mid-week on a Thursday this year, there are fireworks events that span from Friday, June 28 through Sunday, July 6. Here's the schedule, so get ready to "Ooo," and "Ahhh" to your heart's content.
Friday June 28
Bear Mountain State Park Independence Celebration Fireworks. Dance music by Party Time Promotions, a bounce house for the kids, concessions and food stands. $8 per car, so pack 'em in! Located at the intersection of Rt. 9W and the Palisades Parkway.
Tuesday, July 2
White Plains Independence Celebration. Music on the main stage by Total Soul, and also Squeeky Wheel. Frisbee demonstration, and a visit from the Nimham Mountain Native Americans. Doors open at 6 p.m., the fireworks get started at dusk. 500 North Street, White Plains.
Wednesday, July 3
Valhalla
Kensico Dam Music Fest and Fireworks.
Pack a blanket and a cooler, come early for a good spot and enjoy a traditional Fourth of July fireworks show. Bronx River Parkway, Valhalla.
Nanuet
Free fireworks at Nanuet High School: music by the Sixties Show, demonstrations by the Rockland County Radio Control Club

Town of Haverstraw Fireworks Celebration
Beautiful Bowline Park hosts live fireworks at 1 Bowline Plant Road. Music by the 52nd Street Band starts at 7, and the skies light up around 9:30.
Yonkers Summerfest Concert and Fireworks.

Thursday, July 4
Thursday the Fourth is the best day for fireworks in the Lower Hudson Valley, with all kinds of fun activities on the schedule as well.
Caramoor, Katonah
Pops, Patriots and Fireworks with symphonic music at the Venetian Theater, followed by fireworks soon after. Featured are "The A Train to Harlem, Duke Ellington, Billy Strayhorn and the Harlem Jazz Craze." Darius de Haas, vocalist, Jamie Bernstein, narrator,and the Westchester Jazz Orchestra, conducted by Michael Barrett.149 Girdle Ridge Road, Katonah.
Playland
Fireworks at Playland are not a big deal - they have them every Wednesday and Friday throughout the summer. But Thursday's show is going to be choreographed to music. Catch the view from the top of the roller coaster if you can.
Tarrytown/Irvington
The Villages of Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow are working cooperatively on a 4th of July fireworks display. Shot from the former General Motors plant site, Westchester residents can view the 30-minute show from Pierson Park or Kingsland Point Park. The display can also be seen as far away as Rockland County to anyone viewing from Piermont, Grandview or Nyack. The fireworks begin at 9:00 p.m.
Rockland Boulders Stadium
Come for the game and the hot dog eating contest, and stay for the fireworks after the game. The Boulders play the Jersey Jackals starting at 6:30. The fireworks start after the final out. Hope it doesn't go into extra innings! Provident Park Drive, Ramapo.
Nyack
Free concert and free fireworks after dark at Nyack's Memorial Park on Piermont Avenue.
Pearl River
Free concert and fireworks at the Gazebo on Central Avenue, starting at nightfall.
Saturday, July 6
West Point Independence Day Concert and Fireworks.
Who but the Army could put on a Fourth of July event like this! The concerts starts at 7:30 p.m. and is free, as are the fireworks. The music starts with the Hellcats, the Jazz Knights and finishes with the Concert Band. The final selection is a traditional performance of Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture, complete with overhead fireworks and live cannon fire. (Watch your heads!) Trophy Point Amphitheater.
There are loads of fireworks in the Lower Hudson Valley this year. Bring the blankets, coolers and the family and enjoy a great night out under the stars and stripes!
