Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization dedicated towards helping families in need obtain safe homes while building communities and hope.  Currently there are over 30 Habitat affiliates serving Colorado.  Recently I was very fortunate to be able to spend the day volunteering with Habitat For Humanity in Gypsum, Colorado working along side Wells Fargo employees.  This was a very humbling and inspiring way to spend my day working side-by-side with an excited home owner about to establish a new home for her 3 small children.

Habitat for Humanity of Eagle and Lake Counties has a new building site at the Stratton Flats in Gypsum.  This is a community project with 6 homes that were completed in 2012, another 6 homes currently under construction, and 6 additional homes scheduled to be completed by the end of 2014, providing 18families safe, LEED platinum certification, green homes.  These homes are able to save nearly 60% of the utility costs per month and also have solar panels added to them.  As part of the requirements to be a Habitat for Humanity homeowner, you must contribute at least 250 hours of sweat equity building either your own personal residence or one within the community.  This helps to foster more pride in ownership and a sense of community.

Habitat for Humanity –Summit County is a local Breckenridge affiliate that has been around for about 15 years.  Each Habitat affiliation is responsible for funding the home projects through volunteer hours, donations, grants, corporate grants, and with corporation donations of materials and deep discounts.  By having the amount of man hours that we combined during our project on June 21 this year, we locked in a donation for $15,000 with Wells Fargo for next years' build as well.

Ten Peaks Sotheby's International Realty is dedicated towards improving our surrounding communities and serves on a variety of charities and boards.  "Synergy is the creation of a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts."  Building these communities takes the entire communities efforts and could not be described more simply than Synergy.  Get involved today and make a difference.
