Tom very interesting post. Here in Chicago Land we have problems with Dutch Elm and The emerald ash borers which have killed off so many trees. The burbs here have been known for tree lined streets and some parts of the city and that is fading.

In our area hardwood trees that were located in the swamps could not be cut because they were to hard to get to.  Now they have a swamp machine that can go into the swamps and get them cut and out.  Very sad for the swamps..

Tom - Very interesting re-post. I know we have areas where the owners have tree farms for timber. Interesting to read how prices are determined.

Hi Tom, Found this an interesting post.  I am listing 97 acres and some timber has been sold off the land and  they may be selling more. I never knew how timber was priced thanks for the info.

It is the most annoying for me, when buyers share with me that the first thing they want to do  is to get rid of 'that huge tree'. I understand that trees can fall and some of them create a lot of mess( leaves, flowers, etc.), still.....
