Ocean view homes in Malibu, CA Endre Barath

As many independent bookstores and chain bookstores have been closing over the years it is a pleasure to report that another independent bookstore has opened in Malibu, CA and is going on their sixth month of existence!

I was at Point Dume in Malibu and needed a great cup of coffee and look what I found as a bonusJ. The best part is after a bit of research I discovered that not only do they sell used but new books as well. Since Malibu is about 18 scenic miles on the Pacific Coast Highway and there is another independent bookstore at the other end this makes perfect sense. Many locals would not want to drive all the way to the other end of Malibu to go to a bookstore. Hence it makes perfect sense to open one here at Point Dume.

Well I did a little research and found out that the Owner is no stranger or a newbie to the book selling world.  Clarey Rudd also owns another book store in Ventura, CA between the two location and selling books on the internet they are a force in the Book Selling world. As a lover of books and always on the search for new bookstores this was truly a special treat. I wish them much success!

Hi Endre: That's great news indeed, for us lovers of books! It appears independent book shops are on the rebound, which makes me so so happy! We have a few new one's here in my area too. Yay! I love ecclectic shops like this with a mix of new and used. No better way to spend the better part of a morning or afternoon.

Endre, it's good to know that there is still a place for book stores and sellers even in the age of "kindles" and "readers".  I can get lost in time in a bookstore.

Endre, There is something so special, almost magical about books. I love to read. Bookstores are rare these days. I do enjoying looking at books, picking them up and reading them while in a store. The Internet cannot give us that experience.

It is always a treat to find an old fashioned bookstore. You never know what you are going to find. It is like Christmas with so much to unwrap.

Endre, this is a nice post on your local book store.  I am sure they appreciate it.  And right next to a coffee shop - seems like a perfect location.

I just love book stores.  I use my Kindle but I still love book stores.  I'll go there to browse then download when I get home.  Not great news for the stores but I do love book stores.

Endre, I don't neither.  I have downloaded stuff onto my iPad thinking I would read it later but that just doesn't seem to happen.  I prefer real pages to turn!
