Is there anything better than having a great time with your friends? Something that runs a close second is watching another person having a great time with their friends!
This has been a truly fabulous year. I resisted participating in Facebook until this year but since it was part of the curriculum of the IMSDesignation (Internet Marketing Specialist), I joined. You see I always thought of Facebook as being like the Borg and its main purpose was to conquer and dominate our weak human minds so that we would all think and act in unison. Far from people acting like brains possessed, I see them as acting natural and exposing their creative sides. I also see meaningful discourse on important events.
Here's the truth of it for me, I like people...I really like people. Well, maybe not mean, rude, cruel and malicious people but pretty much everyone else would have appeal to me. Over the years (lots and lots of years) through my interaction with school, NOW, political stuff, our two businesses (Venture Out and Lighten Up!) and now with MoonDancer Realty...I've been so fortunate to meet some of the most interesting people but when they number in the hundreds it is so hard to keep up with them in any kind of meaningful fashion.
Facebook participation much like the ActiveRain community has opened a huge and sunny window for me. Finally, a way to connect with all these people and to find out that we have so much more in common than in conflict. One of my favorite discoveries is to find out that people I work with locally through business (county employees, lenders, attorneys and others) have similar tastes in music. This has put such a humanizing touch on so many people that I interact with regularly in real time.
Turns out that I started out exploring social media to help improve MoonDancer Realty's business and that certainly has happened but the real reward has been to my personal life. So...to all my Facebook and ActiveRain friends, have a great week and start it out by tapping your toes and dancing in your chair to Dr John and friends!
