Yarnell Prayers

Most of my blogs have to do with cities and activities in Arizona.  I am an Arizona native and very proud of that fact, as I absolutely love this place that I have had so many adventures in and want others to love it as much as I do.  This blog is going to be a little different.

The fire that we had in Prescott a couple of weeks ago was a tragic loss of beautiful land and Arizona wildlife. Thank goodness no one was injured in this fire.  Now, there is another fire raging out of control in Yarnell Arizona located about 30 miles outside of Prescott.  This fire has taken land, wildlife, homes and now the lives of 19 elite firefighters from Prescott.  This is indeed a sad time for the friends and families of these heroes. It saddens the hearts of everyone here in Arizona to lose men who train hard and put their lives on the line in situations such as this.  My heart goes out to the family and friends of the firefighters who lost their lives battling this blaze. They will not be forgotten.

I will continue to pray for the over 200 heroic people– and the several hundred more who are expected to arrive today - who continue to battle this blaze which is still out of control.  I don’t want to forget about those folks from Yarnell who have lost their homes and belongings and are now living in shelters in nearby towns.  Thank you to the Red Cross for setting up shelters to assist these folks and to those who are giving their time and energy to help out.  If you would like to help or donate, contact the Red Cross.
