Big Canoe Rescue, A blog of 2 minds

Real Estate Agent with

Mind 1.  As a member of the Big Canoe Volunteer Fire department and the North Georgia wild land task force I extend my sincerest good wishes and share the sorrow of the loss of 19 wild land fire fighters in Arizona. Many of us are volunteers and give back to our communities. I do not know if any of the members of the lost crew or the other fire fighter lost were volunteers. Bu it really does not matter. The fire that took them didn't care.

Mind 2. As a member of the Big Canoe VFD we are often called on to work in nature, In this case the call came for a rescue. The recued victim is pictured  here.Big Canoe Rescue

A Red Tailed Hawk Chick was on one of our roads crying.  J Thomas is holding him. He ate well at the station and was a local star until a wild life shelter came and got him. I have been involved in a fawn rescue my self. So one side of being involved in fire fighting in the North Georgia Mountains often involves animal recue  wild and domestic.  Enjoy the photo of this beautiful creature in the mountain community of Big Canoe.

Our sympathies and prayers are with the families as well.

Glad they were able to help the Hawk.

Hi Charlie,

You and the rest of the volunteers are so greatly appreciated. It was a horrible loss to Arizona and to the US as a whole. Firemen go places the rest of the public would never dream of going.....and same with police. We owe them a whole lot of gratitude.

The hawk picture is terrific. I live in an area where there are so many red tailed hawks and I love to hear them screeching. They hang out in some huge 200+ year old trees behind me. So glad you found the chick and I am sure he survived as he looks pretty strong.

Thank you both for your comments. In the middle of this great tragedy we had this little hawk rescue event going on. The contrast struck me and made me write this blog

Hi Charlie, My sympathies go out to your community of Fire Fighters on the great tragedy in your world of rescuers.  So hard to hear that on the news.

Thank you for contrasting it with a rescue of this toddler red tail hawk.  Sad it lost it's parents, but so good that your station came to the rescue.

All the best.
