BBQ Grill Safety - Don't Have A Warped Summer Experience
Planning a BBQ?
Are you a close Griller? Below is a fabulous post from my AR friends from Atlanta Home Inspections David & Bonnie. I've shown and sold homes in the Raleigh, Cary Real Estate Areas that have had the siding melted due to grilling to close to the house.
My grill just happens to be sitting on the ground because my wonderful husband is planning to paint the deck. Interestingly enough, when I went out to get the mail this evening, I thought I smelled something burning and immediately thought about the grill sitting on the ground. The good news is, it was not our grill or our siding. I have no idea what it was. It is a reminder to be careful.
I imagine many bbq grills were sold and given as Father's Day gifts. There are probably many dads excited to try out the new BBQ. So, if you're grilling, please make certain the grill isn't too close to things that will burn.

From Lowes Home Improvement:
July 4th is right around the corner, which means BBQs, picnics, and parades. An enjoyable summer experience for the Atlanta Home Inspector is grilling favorite foods. Most of us do this activity outside by the pool, on the patio, or at the back deck. It isn’t uncommon for IHI Home Inspections to find evidence of “close grillers” from time to time. You know the ones – they do not move the grill far enough away from their house and the heat causes the siding to warp and/or melt.
Just as importantly, do not move the grill too far away under that shade tree with the low hanging branches. Creating a memorable experience for friends and family should not include catching your home or yard on fire!
Do not roam too far away from the flame either. If nobody is manning the grill, it can get out of hand. A good tip is to keep a spray bottle full of water nearby to help tame an unruly flame. You can find one most anywhere for rather cheap.
Also, if there are little ones running around, remember to teach them the importance of not going near the hot grill or open flame.
Remember to have fun, but be safe! Oh, and enjoy your BBQ!!
