When your a Realtor, you are always working. It's Canada Day weekend here in Windsor and no matter how much you'd like to turn off your phone and leave the computer off, it just doesn't happen. Case in point, on Sunday night, instead of relaxing with a glass of wine, it just felt like the right time to catch up on all those tasks I've been putting off. All those emails I've been meaning to send and read. However, what I soon realized is that no one else is working this weekend. Of all the emails that I sent, not ONE has replied. This is good, but again its bad; as its great to knock off these tasks on my to do list!
The one task I can't wait to knock off my to do list is the most recent home that was sold. This one included my client purchasing real estate from a For Sale by Owner. Even on a long weekend, as my title of this blog reads, as a Realtor, you are always working. However, this weekend, I wasn't working for my client, but the for sale by owner. For some reason, they want me to outline everything that needs to be done as well as keep them updated upon the closing of the transaction. Now I know this is my job, to be honest with a customer, however, to be called and have to reassure him and explain all the details, it just makes me want to charge him, as well as tell him TO GET A REALTOR NEXT TIME!
The best part, is when I had to negotiate the purchase price of the home he was selling, he wanted the buyer to pay my commission as well as lower my commission. I'll try to remember that next time I hire a professional, after he/she does the work, I'll tell them to lower their commission and then continue to work for me for free! Yeah Right!
