PEORIA HOME PRICES

For the month of June 2013, we saw an increase in listing prices in Peoria once again. From May to June, the average listing price crept up with an increase of 0.4%. As we move further into the summer months, the time of year when schools are out of session and when most families will purchase a new home, we will continue to see an increase in homes prices across the city. Perhaps the most significant change in the market came with an increase in interest rates during the month of June, which we will see the effects of soon enough.

While we did a small decrease in the average sales price in homes last month, the average sales price during the month of June rebounded. Overall, the average sales price for a home in Peoria in 2013 was up 4.1% from the month of May.

PEORIA MARKET REPORT SUMMARY

As usual, things are still heating up as we go into the summer months. There were 360 single family homes listed for sale in Peoria during the month of June. During the same time period, there were 295 single family homes that sold. We are still not seeing a large surplus of homes on the market currently and homes are selling fast. The average price per square foot home sold in June was up $2.36 from the month of May. For single family homes in Peoria, the average selling price was 97% of the original list price, so most homes are not accepting low-ball offers.
