To escape the almost record hitting heat of the Phoenix summer would be wonderful. If you are looking for a way to accomplish this, drive a couple of hours to the beautiful city of Flagstaff. Not only is there much to do during the day to escape the heat by hiking, fishing, camping, and sightseeing, but there are good activities at night too.
During the day, there are many trails to hike and lakes to fish in. Mormon Lake and the Lake Mary area are beautiful with a lot of scenery. You can drive up to Snow Bowl and ride the ski lift to see the beautiful pine and aspen trees and the city of Flagstaff from afar. Discover the campus of Northern Arizona University and all it has to offer while walking their paths.
Flagstaff’s Heritage Square if offering some great events too. On Saturday nights (July 6th through September 7th) from 3:00 to 10:00 pm they will have local entertainment with a movie beginning at dusk. Food vendors will be available for snacks and dinner, so no need to bring your own picnic if you want a change of pace. Guests are welcome to bring low camp chairs, blankets, etc. to make themselves comfortable during the movie. Don’t forget that you may want to bring a light jacket because the nights can get cool. This is why you are escaping the heat of Phoenix!
