Giant Hogweed invades the United States
Also none as Heracleum Mantegazzianum, can grow to a height between 6 to 16 feet, but also may reach 23 feet. Besides its size it resembles the common hogweed.
Giant Hogweed is a dreadful perennial species that has invaded vast areas in the US; originally from Central Asia, introduced to many European countries then the US and Canada.
This plant is extremely invasive and is growing out of control in may parts of the United States.
Many times new Giant Hogweed growths occurs because seeds blow in the wind and relocate in other areas.
Dangers of Giant Hogweed:
If you have Giant Hogweed on your property DO NOT touch it, if the watery sap of the plant comes in contact with your skin intimately was the affected area with soap and water, cover affected area do not expose to sun light, it has been none that blisters and severe burns may occur, as well as blindness. Consult with a physician as soon as possible.
The effects of the Giant Hogweed sap can last for months, years o be permanent.

The toxic sap is concentrated in the hairy part of the plant, the hollow stems, foliage, fruit/ seeds.
What you should do if you see or have Giant Hogweed in your property?
You should contact the Department of Environmental Conservation DEC, by e-mail or call the Giant Hogweed hot-line 845-256-3111, they want you to provide an exact location of the affected area, the amount of plants, and pictures. Make sure you do not touch the plants.
