How To Sell Your Home Without an Agent

By
Real Estate Agent with Windsor Realtor

How to sell your home without an agent in Windsor is something that many people try to do, and some are successful at. I just recently wrote a post about whether You should Sell or Buy Your Home on Your Own in Windsor?

Well now I"m here to give you some tips on how you can sell your own home without an agent. I won't reveal all of the fsbosecrets to selling your home on your own, if you'd like all my secrets, visit How to Sell Your Home Without an Agent and fill out the form to get full access. However, I will share with you some of the tips that can get you started. Just remember too, selling your home on your own is like going to court without a lawyer. Its something that I for one do not frown upon. I mean, who doesn't want to do something on their own. We do it everyday in order to save ourselves money. We cut the lawn on our own, instead of hiring someone, we clean the house on our own, instead of hiring a maid. However, it's a time factor, and that's the one question you need to ask yourself, is your time worth more than what you would pay the person cutting your lawn, the person cleaning your house, or the Windsor Realtor who wants to sell your house. After talking to some of my past clients, they quickly realized how much time is involved, and I've even drawn up a spreadsheet showing how much time is involved when you try to sell your home. Past clients all said that they didn't want to deal with the headaches of scheduling showings, all the paperwork, paying more lawyer fees. They felt that using a Windsor Realtor just made more sense in the end.

Anyways, it is always your choice in the end if you'd want to hire a realtor or not. If you do choose not to, well then below are some tips to get your started:

2. Prepare Your Home for Sale

First impression is crucial. Make sure your home makes a positive statement by carefully inspecting all details and viewing it through the objective eyes of a buyer. Don't gloss over needed repairs and fix-ups, as your prospective buyers won't. Your job is to ensure that your home stands out favorably from the competition.

5. Remain Objective During a Showing of Your Home

Keep emotion out of the sale of your home, and the best way to do this during a showing is to remain physically in the background. If a prospective buyer says something negative about your home, it is better to counter-balance this point of view by illustrating the positives rather than becoming defensive.

6. Pre-Qualify Your Prospects

Don't waste your time entertaining buyers who could never afford your home. Research their financial steadiness with respect to job security, salary, debts, liabilities and credit standing.

8 . Know Your Buyer

Your objective during negotiations is to control the pace and set the duration. Try to determine what your buyer's motivation is. Does he or she need to move quickly? Do they have enough money to pay your asking price? Knowing this information will give you the advantage in the negotiation because you will know up front, what you will need to do in order to get what you want.
