Hey, Great Article in the East Bay Newspaper They Said.
Two weeks ago I received a phone call from someone from our local area newspaper The East Bay News. She asked me if I had gotten her email yesterday. To which I replied "What email?" Which sent me off looking in my spam folders, trash, unopened emails etc. She began telling me why she emailed me.
She said "I read your blog (actually several of them) on Google, and I love what you have to say about the local area real estate market. By now I had found her email which basically said the same thing. I asked her where she found me on Google. She responded "Your ActiveRain blog", to which I responded "SWEET!!" as I did a happy dance in my chair.
She asked me if I would help her out. You see, her regular real estate writer didn't submit a article for the 4th of July week, and she was on a deadline to find something to put in the column. She had 2 hours in which to make the deadline cut off. She asked if she could use one of my blogs from the past month or so. I would get my first by-line article in a local newspaper (which I know tons of people read), possibly my picture, but definitely my name, company name, phone, website address & email information. I asked her which blog had caught her attention (I wanted to be able to possibly expand upon that blog if it was that good). She said she'd send me the blog link if I would send her my head shot and information.
Once I got her email she had 5 of my blogs from the last few months listed. Any of these would be great she said. I chose one that I felt touched more on the local market and how I work for my clients.

The newspaper comes out in print on Wednesdays and online on Tuesdays. Friends were posting on Facebook that they saw my article in the paper. My daughter's friends were telling her that her Mom wrote an article that was published. Today, I went to church and quite a few members came up to me and congratulated me on my article in the paper. "Hey, great article in the East Bay Newspaper they said."
As it turns out my ActiveRain blog postings are truly read by people. The timing of her reading my blog and needing someone to "fill in" as a contributing writer was perfect. The East Bay Newspaper goes out to 5 communities around Rhode Island (Barrington, Warren, Bristol, East Providence,Tiverton-Little Compton.
Great opportunities present themselves at unexpected times. This one surely did.
I've asked if I could occasionally get more blogs in the real estate section...her answer was "absolutely"
I'll agree with what the readers have told me- It's a great article in the East Bay Newspaper, and one that I am proud of thanks to ActiveRain.
