Great Customer Service Makes All The Difference!

Work took me to Juneau, Alaska June 20/21, 2013. I have several great memories of my trip but one especially lingers. It keeps resurfacing and brings me many smiles of appreciation.

On Friday around 4:30 we were finally done with our marathon day of clock hour classes. We cleaned up the space, packed up, jumped in the car, dropped a bunch of stuff off at our local First American Title office and headed for the wharf in downtown Juneau. Tired and starving we were hoping for a chat over some food and a beverage before catching a flight home.

When we arrived at the Twisted Fish Company Alaskan Grill the place was packed and really busy with 2 cruise ships in port. When we got our table our server Kate showed up.

Kate went so totally above and beyond the call. We told her our situation and she totally took command of it. Kate, after a short discussion, suggested we order our drinks now and get appetizers, that would be way faster than dinners. So we did and she literally ran to the bar to place our orders!

This said several things to me: Kate didn't judge, she took us on and with a smile. No “oh geez another group from out of town with unrealistic expectations.” Somehow we just knew we were going to be well taken care of as we watched her bouncing from table to table.

 

I loved the appetizers, but I loved Kate more! Twisted Fish, you’re doing something very very right if you are hiring young people like Kate!

If she were in real estate, I thought, she’d be an awesome super agent. With a great work ethic and a real talent to connect with people, positive, helpful, ready willing and able to be her best, I’d hire her in a nano second!

Thank you Kate! I can’t tell you how many seminars I’ve been to over the years that were going to teach us how to be super successful via WOW customer service. I just witnessed the real thing in you and I think you have a very bright future.

You were proof that great service serves us all and makes every event, occasion, and transaction a better experience. What a great way to end my whirlwind tour of Juneau.

Thanks for reminding me, great customer service does make all the difference!

I agree Rene. I come from a hospitality/Chef background. No matter how great you are as a chef, your business relies on a host of other folks to deliver the great experience to them. I LIKE TO ALWAYS MAINTAIN THAT SERVANTS HEART IN MY rEAL eSTATE BIZ AND ALWAYS COME FROM CONTRIBUTION TO DELIVER 10 + CUSTOMER SERVICE. sORRY FOR CAPS...FAT FINGERS! hA.

Hi Debbie: I hear a lot about kids and how they don't care, yet almost every encounter I have with young people is great. We needed encouragement when we were young. Sometimes we got it, sometimes not. I like to dish it out when I see a shining example of making a difference! Thanks... the praise was earned and well deserved.
