Picture this and save a life

Picture this: you are having dinner with your family at your favorite restaurant.  Everyone has ordered their dinner and you are happily chatting and catching up on the activities of the day.  You hear a small ruckus at a table behind you.  You turn around to see that someone at the table is choking or in cardiac arrest.  So many things go through your mind at that point in time.  Are you trained to be able to assist this person in need?  Have you ever had to use Continuous Chest Compression Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CCC –CPR) on a friend, loved one or someone in your community?  I have had to perform CPR on a family member at one time, and while it is scary to consider being trained and prepared is something I am glad I did.

Learning CCC-CPR would be a god idea for everyone.  I know keeping up on it for me is a good idea being a REALTOR, as I work with both young and elderly people who I go to eat with and drive around in my vehicle. Living in Arizona with all the swimming pools and water parks it is a good idea for everyone to have some familiarity with the techniques because you never know what will happen.  The survival rate for a cardiac arrest victim drops by 10% each minute there is a delay in starting CCC-CPR. Emergency response times are typically 4 to 8 minutes.  So, you could be the reason someone lives.

The Surprise Fire Department is offering FREE CCC-CPR classes on July 11th and August 8th from 9:00 am to 11:00 am and 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Public Safety Building Auditorium located at 14250 W Statler Plaza Surprise AZ 85374.  Please keep in mind that these are not CCC-CPR certified classes, but will give you good information.  To register for these classes or get more information, please contact  623.222.5128.

Community amenities such as this is why Surprise AZ is a good place to put down some family roots.  Come visit this gem of a city and find out why so many call it home.  To find your dream home in the area, visit www.buyandsellnow.biz.

Great reminder Lori.  One of my friends actually saved another friend's life when he choked on a peppermint as he was leaving a restaurant.  I'm going to check for CPR classes where I live. Thanks.

Lori, I think this training is a good idea. One just never knows when it will be needed to save a life.

No I have not had to perform CPR and I am trained.  When we were foster parents my wife had to perform CPR on an infant that had stopped breathing in crib.  Successfully bringing her back.

Thanks for the comments. This is just one thing that you never know about. My experience was that I would rather have the training and not use it than not have it and need it. I hope that you can find classes in your area and participate in them.  Again - thanks everyone and have a great day!
