BlobFest Phoenixville PA  July 12-14, 2013 

It’s that time of year when the movie The Blob returns to the movie screen to scare moviegoers in the Colonial Movie Theatre in downtown Phoenixville Pennsylvania where the movie was filmed in 1958 with Steve McQueen!  There have been re-enactments of the running from the movie theater for years and not a surprise that the tickets to partake in this event sold out in hours!  But do not fret you can be part of the fun by visiting Phoenixville this weekend for there are many other things going on in honor of The Blob!

Even if you cannot be inside the theater on Friday night you can part of the happenings on the outside with a parade and music with everything ending at the theater to watch the moviegoers run out of the theater as the movie ends and the blob descends on the theater (in the movie)!

Saturday and Sunday July 13-14th there are activities throughout the day in and around the movie theater and the town of Phoenixville as many partake in the Bug BlogFest.  Please open links for more info.

Hi Jim, What a fun tradition for sure!  That movie is early sci-fi it is fun to see at least once! It has been a while since I have seen it.

Hi Debbie, It is worth seeing one time if you come across the film.

Stave and Jan, Lancaster is a destination place for us on days that we can get away during the week for a motorcycle ride.  Enjoy the back roads in the farmland.

Hi Ed, I remember seeing the movie as a kid sometime after it came out.  I enjoyed it.  Did not realized than that it was filmed so close to where I grew up.
