About a week ago a lady called me from Germany.
- Her husband works for the DOD and will be transferred to the Pentagon in August.
- He'll be in town this weekend for four days to search and buy a new home.
- They've been in Germany for 14 years and
- Have never been assigned to the National Capital Area
I asked her where she found my contact info. She replied she had seen one of my blogs and was impressed by my nearly 40 years experience as they had a short time frame and had no knowledge of the area.
Too many real estate agents assume that seasoned real estate practitioners are "out of touch" with the new and rapid changes in technology.
Recently, I read a real estate blog where the writer criticized the "oldtimers" that fail to follow updated procedures.
About two years ago I commented on a blog - the author responded with "Your time has passed - go sit in a rocking chair and get out of the way of the new breed".
Not all "oldtimers" are proficient with today's technological advances. Similarly, not all newer agents have a "feel" for the transaction that comes from many years of experience.
One thing is certain, a seasoned agent has had more exposure to a wide variety of real estate transactions and challenges - that works to a client's benefit.
The lady's husband arrived in town early Saturday morning. We looked at houses Saturday and wrote an offer on Sunday. On Monday his offer on a $650,000 home on 10 acres in Fauquer County was accepted. I hated to leave my knitting, but I learned a long time ago to adapt to these interruptions.
