Lakefair and summer - Olympia's annual community celebration brings out young and old to have some fun! Lakefair has something for everyone:
A carnival by the lake where you can gaze across the city from high atop the Ferris Wheel, get your thrills on the roller coaster, watch the toddlers enjoy the little cars or boats, and see if your skills will win you any prizes on the games.
The food booths are a local favorite as well as a great annual fundraiser for many community groups and organizations. (And Lakefair just wouldn't be complete for me without a Demo burger full of grilled onions and a slice of pie or a strawberry shortcake). The picnic tables in the park become a community dining room where everyone just joins any available table with their goodies from the food booths.
Music on the stage will entertain the crowd as they move through the park or munch on that cotton candy or elephant ear.
The big parade Saturday evening will have the streets lined with chairs for days in advance as everyone plans out their perfect viewing position for the floats, bands, horses, clowns, motorcycles, antique cars and more.
And the grand finale is the fireworks show over the lake - get ready for the oohs and aahs Sunday night when Lakefair wraps up the season.
The weather forecast sounds great - so plan for some time down at Lakefair - you will see pretty much everybody you know in town! I'll be watching for you!
