Seller thinks that inspector caused surge that killed her computer

My client has a very old computer.  Apparently when the inspector flipped the circuit breaker the power supply died.  Now I need to approach the inspector.  I want to wait until after the inspection report is in.  I think I will call my computer specialist and find out how much a power supply would cost to install.    What have you done when the inspector might have broken something in the home.    This is complicated by the fact that my seller is moving in 2 days and needs her computer.     Just one of those things.

Good morning Debbie -

Sounds like trouble in paradise when a seller thinks that inspector caused surge that killed her computer.  If it were me I would just simple call the home inspector explain and take it from there.  Just take the bull by the horns and get the problem behind you my friend.

An old computer that is unprotected should be unplugged when not in use.

Ditto what John said - call the Inspector, hand him the hot potato.

I personally don't think it is the fault of the inspector.  If she is saavy enough to use a computer, she should have a reliable surge protector attached.  AND, should have turned it off when the inspector came, knowing that he may be testing the circuits.

Gets the job done!

Since my client is moving in 2 days I grabbed the computer and took it to my computer repairman.   It was the power supply and it cost $90.  The inspector doesn't think either of us should pay for it.  I will just eat it.  It could have been the power supply's time.  My client is giving me a Christmas cactus for being so nice :)
