Top Three Towns of The Connecticut Neighbor to Neighbor Energy Challenge.
The Connecticut Neighbor to Neighbor Energy Challenge has announced the winners and prizes of the fourteen participating towns with two of the top three being in Fairfield County.
Towns racked up points with the help of their residents. Those who completed Home Energy Assessments and home energy upgrades added to the Town’s point pool. Towns chose from a selection of prizes ranging from smart thermostats to electric vehicles. rteen participating towns with two of the top three being in Fairfield County.
Westport came in first place in the challenge with 897,250 points and is redeeming $44,826.50 in prizes that include an electric utility vehicle to help get work done on town grounds.
Wethersfield pulled ahead in the last quarter of the challenge with 265,200 points to secure second place. They are redeeming Energy Saving Performance Contracting through Celtic Energy, which will help assess and implement major efficiency improvements in town facilities. Wethersfield also chose an infrared heat gun, which will help identify where heat is leaking out of buildings. Town residents will be able to check out this tool from the Wethersfield Public Library.
Wilton took a close third place in the challenge with 209,550 points and will be redeeming an electric vehicle charging station.
All fourteen towns will be redeeming prizes sponsored by Northeast Utilities, so keep an eye out for energy related updates in your town!
