ACTIVE RAIN AND THE STEAMY ROMANCE NOVEL

By
Real Estate Agent with Falcon Property Solutions

Thunder SnowA little over two years ago, I was encouraged to join this amazing group called ActiveRain. Being a novice writer but quite verbose, I found my 'voice' as I shared and learned from my peers in a venue that became very much like family. My business THRIVED, referrals skyrocketed, and deep and abiding friendships were formed.

Before long, I found that I really liked to write. Many of you encouraged me. Many of you gave me confidence that this was something I wanted to pursue. In a phone conversation one day with the inimatable Brian Sirota, he exhorted me to write a book. My response was something along the lines of, "After working real estate all day, how much fun would it be to then sit down and write a book about it?"

"Then write a steamy romance novel," was his immediate response. Somehow that 'permission' began my journey in writing THUNDER SNOW, a steamy romance novel and the first in the Thunder on the Mountain Series set in the quaint town of Nederland, Colorado. It was published today on all of the major venues (Amazon, Kindle, Nook, paperback, etc.), and I couldn't be more excited.

ActiveRain is so much more than real estate. It is a journey of friendship and family and fun and sharing and growing and learning from each other ~ and prospering our business. If you would like to share with me in my journey (shameless plug coming up) you can now purchase your very own copy of THUNDER SNOW. Thank you ALL for you support and encouragement and friendship. Being here has been life changing.

AND what I really need is reviews, so if you buy it, please be sure to leave a review on Amazon. Thank you!

I'm reading it now, Mimi on my Kindle and I will definitely write a review before the end of the month! Although your writing has always intrigued me, in fact I wrote a post about you, I still say I can pick them!  And yes, it's steamy!

You should be very proud of yourself for doing this and I hope it spurs you on to write even more.   I have been writing a book for quite awhile now, not a steamy romance, but an historical romance and your finishing and publishing has given me the impetus to get going again on my writing!

That is TOO funny, Myrl. Sounds like YOU have the makings of a book ;)

It has been a great addition to my personal and professional life as well, Karen. Good to see you. Love the pic!

The Star Power of a Gary Keller, that will be a nice future disussion, Kevin. In the meantime, Thank You for your kind words. ;)

I will definitely be doing a little book tour, Gabe. Thanks for your encouragement.

Hello, Jenn. Most important thing is to carve out time every day. You don't have to be inspired, you just have to write. Get your first draft done because most of the work will be done on the edit anyway. Let me know if I can help.

Hello, my beautiful Kris. I will be in NYC in Mid-August and again in late September/early October. Hoping we can hook up. Would LOVE to spend some time with you.

Thank you, Marti. I agree. Kindle just doesn't do the trick for me somehow.

Once you buckle down, John, it shouldn't take long. It's where you are right now that takes time. Just set aside time every day (whenever your best writing time is) and it will happen.

Thanks so much, Andrea. Once I got past the 'embarrassment' that people would read my steamy words (some of my clients have been SHOCKED), I had a lot of fun doing it.

Karen, Karen, Karen - thank you SO much. Let me encourage you. Set aside time EVERY DAY. Define your characters. Know them intimately. Then the book takes over. My second book will be SO MUCH better than the first because I learned this lesson somewhere along the way. Most important thing to getting it done is DOING IT. An hour a day and it won't take you long. Something that I told someone else here, don't worry about a good first draft. Don't waste time editing it as you go along. Get your thoughts down because most of the work happens when you're finished and going back thru. If you are writing your first draft and have a great idea to add, put it down on a notepad by your computer (or whatever works for you) and just keep going. You have to have a draft to have a book. Let me encourage you. JUST DO IT. And let me know if I can help.

Mimi - What an accomplishment!  Now instead of being one of those who wishes they could write a book, you actually have.

As with most things, Christine, it's a matter of whether or not you really want to. In my case, it was an exercise in joy to put words on the paper. :)

Thank you, Connie. Whenever you're done, the reviews are a big deal (no matter WHEN they happen) for a new author, so I'd appreciate it (especially if you like it :) :) ) Hope you're well. This journey has been a lot of fun!

Book 2 or 3 is what causes the rukus usually, Yolanda, so I'm steaming away on Two and hope to have it published no later than late October/early November. Thank you!

Thank you so much for your encouragement, Patricia! It was a fun journey, and I am really enjoying the second one as well. I learned a lot of what to do and what not to do, and hope to have it done in the fall. There is some 'steam,' so you can skip those parts if you need to. LOL

Hi Mimi, I finished your novel in two nights....I loved it and could not put the book down and stayed up til 2 am to finish the book on my iPad.  It was a great romantic and suspenseful filled book.  Thanks and look forward to reading your next novel.  PS It was extremely ... steamy!!

I really enjoyed the book. This is what Mimi said when I mailed her a copy of speakingamish.com which my daughter wrote.

"My husband wants to know if you're trying to tell me that THIS is more appropriate for a woman my age?"

She also said I will blush to my boots or something like that! Well, I don't blush as easy as I used to. I told her I will be willing to take a chance! I survived!
