I've been a professional real estate agent since May of 2002. In my time I've seen my local market shift from stable, to good, to stable, to not good, to good, to great, to unbelievable, to unbelievably bad overnight, to rotten, to still rotten, to getting better, to good, to really good again.
Did you follow all that? In other words the market shifts and every time it does I have to shift along with it. You don't survive eleven years as a real estate agent unless you can adapt on the fly. And I write this just so that the newer agents out there, the ones that thought the market was "eh" at the end of 2012 and then "wow!" in the first half of 2013 and are hoping it will stay that way. Well, guess what? I don't know if he market will stay hot or get cold. Nobody really does if they are honest.
All I know is that when the market shifts, I will shift again. Stay on top of your marketing and lead generation and keep an eye out for new technologies that will help you serve your clients. And watch your money. I started real estate blogging in 2006 and posts I wrote seven years ago still help to make sure I make a nice living for my family and myself. But I'm always on the look out for what's next. And I think I know what I'm going to do about it.
