By changing some things about your home you can do something good for your family, your pocketbook, and the environment all at the same time. All you have to do is make your home a little greener. A few simple changes in your home can go a long way and fight both global warming and high energy bills. Remember, to be green you have to got to be efficient.

By replacing your light bulbs with CFL’s or energy star bulbs you can make an impact just by switching the 5 bulbs you use most, that alone will save you about $100.00 per year. If every family in the U.S. also did the same, greenhouse gas emissions would drop by about a trillion pounds—that’s 12,000,000,000,000 (12 zeros).

What about saving another 10 % on your energy bill on top of that? It’s easy all you have to do is program your thermostat. Set it to 78 degrees in the summer or higher and 62 degrees or lower in the winter. It’s a known fact that it costs about 1% more per degree over or under these settings. Also plugging your leaks would help you see the change in this.
