Moving: All The "Stuff" We Don't Need!

Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Results MN#20344949 WI#93113-94

As a Realtor we are working constantly with people moving. Sellers who have lived in their home a long time especially...they have piles of stuff collecting stuff.  When your moving its your chance to evaluate if you need all that "stuff".  We are in the process of moving and I would prefer to call that "stuff" something else but it might not be appropriate for type.

I took a picture of the garage of the house we are moving into.  Its almost finished with its rehab and we have our home on the market so we needed to declutter.

At first we hauled a few loads of "nice stuff" to the thift store.  Then we asked the kids to box of their "stuff".  Then I hauled that over.  We still had a lot of "stuff" so I started throwing the less special "stuff" out.  Now we still have "stuff" we don't need but thought lets haul it out and over to the new place and perhaps we will do a garage sale. (That will be a topic for a couple more blogs when we actually do the garage sale.)

So here we are.  A 3rd stall + full of "stuff".

By my accounts at least 70% of the items that are there we don't need.  10% is probably your seasonal decor that we do use during the various holidays.  10% are toys that the kids probably still want to use. (there are plenty of toys boxed that they wont miss that will be gone).  10% is items we do use but were able to move.

There you have it. When you move is it the same?  Do we all really have that much "stuff" we don't need? Now our goal is to get rid of it.  Clutter is a disease and I won't stand for it anymore!

We need to take our own advice and celar things out a bit.

The Pole Barn fire from 2 1/2 years ago helped me with this.
