Tenant Screening Services - Links For You and Your Clients

I must have had at least 200 calls from landlords wanting me to check the credit for their potential clients. And if the number of calls I have received is 200 then the number of times I've had to say, "I am not approved to do this and neither is, to my knowledge, any other bank or broker unless they are certified and licensed as a Credit Reporting Agency." However, here are some companies which offer these services. I know some loan officers will do this for their clients but it is not permissable.

In no particular order:

I started writing on Active Rain in 2006 when I was representing the mortgage industry. I am no longer in that industry and many of the older posts contain outdated information. Please do not contact me for LENDING or MORTGAGE questions but rather contact a licensed mortgage professional from your area. I have always been in marketing and branding and that is still what I do. Thanks for reading!

Everyone probably has a little bad credit issues of some kind. What I think the landlord is looking for is a screening of certain things which could be clarifid witha few questions. But most likely what your screening for is possible felonys, sexual predators, foreclosures and evictions on the credit report. I don't think this an unresopnable request of the landlord. But he should be asking his property manager or listing agent to look at this instead of his mortgage broker. He in texas along with the lease and lease application is a form the potential tennant signs giving permission to check these things.
