It isn't all bad news for Macomb County home sellers!

By now you are likely sick of reading all the bashing that our fine state is receiving
because of the economic conditions caused by job losses in the last several years.

I know I am sick of it. I'm a Michigander born and bred. I've raised my family
here, worked here my entire life, paid my taxes to the State of Michigan, and
contributed to the Metro Detroit economy year after year.

This morning I did a bit of research and was once again pleasantly surprised at what I found.

As of 6:35 this morning, there are 682 homes that are marked "Pending Sales"
in Macomb County alone in one of our Multilist databases, Mirealsource™.

One that will be marked "pending" later this morning is this beauty --->

(BTW, the beauty to the right is NOT a foreclosure or bank owned home.)

What does this mean?

It means that through the doom and gloom that people in our wonderful state
still need a place to live and are purchasing homes and selling homes.

People still get married, still move out of Mom and Dads home, still graduate from
college, still want to get out of that apartment and all of the other life changes that
happen to precipitate a home purchase.

Are home sales numbers and prices the way they were in 2001? Absolutely not. But then
again, the economic conditions in our fine state aren't what they were back then.

Michiganders are a tough bunch of people. Good hearted people. Strong willed people.
We will bounce back, we will contribute to our economy, we will be part of the good things
that happen daily in our state.

I vow to be a part of it and be here through all of the cycles that take place.

Oh Kris,  This is just so true!  We are here because we want to be and we choose to make Michigan our home and people are still buying and selling homes!  Well stated and a good comment which is contrary to what people are hearing.  My friends are shocked to hear I have two closings in February, you would think no homes are moving from the sound of the news.  This is an important local message.

Kris, ditto... we need to focus on the positive. People still need to buy and some need to sell. So life goes on, it is just working differently. I'll be here too, working when the cycle changes.

Kris--This is so true! I received a gloom and doom phone call from a loan officer telling us all that HUD had declared many communities in our state as declining markets with higher loan to debt ratios...OK so we educate our buyers that they need money to put down, need to bring up their credit scores and they still can buy a house! It doesn't have to be so ominous all of the time...There are buyers and sellers in good markets and bad. Sometimes the best opportunities are in the so called, bad markets...Thanks for keeping it positive!

Karen:   Thank you.  You and I have kept in touch, and I know you are seeing much of the same thing that I am:  People NEED a place to live and ARE buying and selling.

Missy:  I'll let the media and other "bashers" who have no financial or personal stakes in our state bash away, I won't add to it.  We are blessed to live here and like you, I will continue to see this through.   Thanks Missy.

Charles:  Thanks buddy.  I know your Charlottesville area consumers are lucky to have you.

Teri:  We received the same declining values report months ago, and guess what?  Homes are still selling.  Imagine that.  Thank YOU for reiterating that local issues can and are being handled and that some of us need to speak up and tell about the positive things happening.
