Hi, I'm Doug LaBrecque "The Man in Manhattan" with GPS Real Estate. A couple of weeks ago, I was reminded about many things when I went upstate and did the broker tour with the GPS team. About 20 agents previewed 10 properties of which GPS were showing two beautiful homes to other brokers. Both 55 Cascade Rd and 21 Distillery Rd received rave reviews from the other Realtors in the group and we were able to see some other great listings which may well interest our diverse client base at the same time. I hope one day that my Manhattan peers would get together to provide a service like this, but that's a topic for another day! After a tasty lunch provided by GPS's VP, Deb Krol at Distillery Rd., I spent some time driving around searching for even more interesting homes for my many clients considering the area.
I have always really loved Warwick. For years I have been visiting pubs, restaurants and the Antique store on Railroad Ave. I had not been into town for quite some time, but I noticed on my recent visit that the village seems to be thriving. They take excellent care of their public garden space, it's apparent why the town won the International Town In Bloom contest in recent years. There is a new chocolate shop in town (!!!!), a wonderful new local bookstore and a vegan restaurant. Comparing home prices to Westchester, Rockland and Long Island, homes in Warwick are still a deal and this place just oozes country charm!
On my way back to the city, I dropped in on a couple other of our listings, one is in the upscale
gated community of Pierson Lakes in Sterlington. It is a wonderful country property yet so close to Manhattan, a mere 20 something miles. Located in a very chi-chi, gated & guarded luxury yet country community, this lakefront ,very private lot boasts a sandy beach and a private dock. It's quiet (no motor boats here,) with only the rustle of wind in the trees, and the occasional bird disturbing the peace. Well worth considering if you want a peaceful getaway without hours of driving to get there. The last stop was at the home of our clients' Sam and Ellen Greenberg in the wonderful lake Pine Groves lake community of Sloatsburg. This was purely an educational stop for me, as we had sold their pretty ranch on Birch Dr., within a week of listing it. I wanted to see what all the fuss was about an
d check out our lots available in the same community. Wow, I was impressed.Their are two lakes, one for boating and one for swimming, complete with lifeguard during summer months and a sandy beach. The large playing fields and easy access to the Harriman State Park make this a very appealing community, well worth checking out. The best part is the train stops just down the road, making it a very quick escape from the city.
I'm heading back upstate this coming weekend and looking forward to visiting more of the GPS listings in Sullivan County.
