Time to celebrate National Ice Cream month during the month of July. There is nothing better than a dish of ice cream on a hot summer day so July is the perfect month to celebrate ice cream.
I remember family picnics as child when my grandmother would make hand churned fresh peach ice cream. It takes a good bit of time to turn cream, eggs, sugar and peaches into ice cream. It is also tiring when you have to continue to turn the handle. There were always enough of us at the picnic so we would just take turns. It is a wonderful memory so much so, I decided to make ice cream tomorrow. And yes, you guessed it, I will be making fresh peach ice cream.
We have President Ronald Reagan for this national holiday. He is the one that made the proclaimation back in 1984 that July should be the month to celebrate ice cream since it is enjoyed by 90% of Americans.
