We Didn't See The Cat But Eyes Started Tearing And Noses Were Running!

While showing a home in a 55+ community the other day to a couple, the wife started sneezing and her nose and eyes began to run.  They loved the house and honestly there wasn't a cat in sight, in fact the owners didn't live there anymore yet the furnishings and personal items remained.

We all love our little creatures, but we don't realize how they can affect other people.  My suggestion to remedy a situation like this is to remove all furnishings that are made of cloth and have rugs shampooed before leaving it.  Another suggestion would be to let other Realtors know that cats, dogs or other little critters lived there.

Some people are so allergic that they could end up in the hospital when a little note could have prevented it all.

Sara, I completely identify with the wife in your story.  This is how my daughter and I react to cat dander.

Sharon, My husband and daughter had the same reaction just from my clothes when I got home.  Once I changed they were ok.

Sara, I am allergic to cats, so I understand completely. I love them, though! Having the carpets and furniture cleaned would definitely help!
