If you've got a hankerin' for Stinking Rose, you've got to come to the Gilroy Garlic Festival!

July 26-28, 2013 marks the 35th annual Gilroy Garlic Festival and fund raising event.  Made possible by more than 4,000 volunteers, this fantastic weekend offers music, arts & crafts, local vendors, cook-offs, demonstrations, wine and food featuring our friend garlic, lovingly called the stinking rose.

Operation hours are 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., but you'll want to come early as entry gates close at 6:00.  Please leave non-service animals at home as this is a human-only event.

Since this is in part a fund raising event, you'll need a ticket to attend.  Buy your tickets in advance at http://www.eventbrite.com/event/5712763028?ref=ebtn or at the door (increased cost).  Don't forget to bring your pocket change in case you want to sample the food offerings.

The festival is held in Christmas Hill Park in Gilroy at 7050 Miller Avenue, you'll need to follow directional signs to designated parking areas.  This is an outdoor venue and you're encouraged to dress in layers (cool in the morning and potentially quite warm in the afternoon).  Comfortable shoes and sun protection are a necessity.

Want more details?  Check out the full schedule of events at these two locations:

Come join the fun, mingle with neighbors and have a fabulous time!  Oh, and don't worry about your breath - we'll all understand.

I can't wait to see you there!

Rebecca: I always get hungry driving through Gilroy along 101. I swear they spritz the air with wonderful garlic. Always reminds me of one of the best meals I ever had in San Francosco, a garlic cluster cooked in butter plus a superb glass of white wine. Wish I could be there for the festival but, as you know, I'm here in Honolulu for awhile yet. Next time I'm in Carmel-by-the-Sea, I'll give you call.

Hi Hella.  Thank you for stopping by my blog and commenting!  It's so true about the delightful smell of garlic in and around Gilroy.  There's not a day that goes by you can't almost taste it in the air.  I look forward to your return trip stateside.

Hi Rebecca, I must say it smells delicious every day!  This weekend has been an interesting one with all the traffic inspired by the festival.  With all the main roads filled it was a great opportunity for Realtors to show out of town customers the beauty surrounding our towns.  Thank you for stopping by and sharing your comment!  We'll have to visit when you come back to visit.
