The original name for Westchester Square was The Village of Westchester, in fact, The Village of Westchester was the first village settlement in all of Westchester, it was considered the hub of the of Westchester, according to The Bronx Historical Society. The Bronx later broke away from Westchester to become its own county.
The Weschester Square location has held many different uses over the years. Being the center of the village, Westchester Square held the Church, the courthouse, a cemetary, and the prison and a park. The Westchester Square train station was originally opened up on May 30th, 1920.
Today, Westchester Square still remains a busy hub of activity for all of the residents that live around the area.
