Gaithersburg Meals on Wheels need volunteer drivers

 

You have heard about Meals on Wheels but do you know who delivers the meals?  Volunteers make the deliveries as they donate their time and use their own vehicles.

Gaithersburg Meals on Wheels, Inc. needs additional delivery driver volunteers to deliver hot lunches and cold suppers at lunchtime to the elderly and shut-ins in the Gaithersburg area.

Meals are picked up at Asbury Methodist Village: 333 Russell Ave. between 10:45 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., Monday through Friday.  Containers are provided for carrying meals and delivery takes about one hour.  8 to 12 clients are served on each route.  Children are welcome to accompany parents.  Training is provided.  Volunteer assistance as little as once each two weeks will be much appreciated.

Meals on Wheels is such an excellent program Roy and I need myself to carve out some time to assist. A very worthy charity and glad to see Gaithersburg has the call out for more help.

Thanks so much for your comments and support. Please promote the Meals on Wheels programs in your community. Many real estate agents deliver meals on a regular basis. They usually volunteer one or two days a week. Clients understand when agents tell them they can't meet when they have to deliver meals.

This is a fantastic program, I attended a Senior seminar recently and heard how important it was when the day bfore meals didnot show up and how it affected teh people who depend on it. It gave me a new insight on meals for wheels. Have a good Monday

Roy, this is a wonderful organization for meals. I've known many seniors who have taken advantage of the meals. Hopefully your post will get some volunteers to drive, etc. Thanks for sharing.
