Grumpy's Mexican Restaurant

I had always heard of Grumpy's in the Bracken / Garden Ridge area for a while.  Everytime I pass the place it is packed so obviously it had to be amazing!  So today my friend and I decided we had to try it out.  So we started out with ordering chips and salsa, notice I said order, it seemed quite unusual to me that you actually had to order this and pay for them at any Mexican Restaurant.  The chips were cold but the salsa was super hot!  The service wasn't super fast so they couldn't full the water fast enough for my eyes not to water full blown tears!  I ordered the beef enchiladas a standard staple at any good Mexican restaurant.  Well the plate came out piping hot and the portion was huge, enough for two people to share.  Unfortuantley the enchildas were cold, and they weren't good.  I think I've had better at Taco Cabana and that's not syaing too much!  It seems the restaurant has gone more to a general American menu than true Mexican that it once was.  It's special of the day was catfish and shrimp.  Quote unusual!  I would pass on Grumpy's Mexican Restaurant if anyone ever was to invite me again.  It's unfortunate because to my understanding it used to be really really great!

Hi Brenda, I love mexican food and it sounds like you went when it was too crouded and they were short on staff.  I would try a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday to see if the service and food are better.  Thanks for sharing your experience!
