Wow - I'm glad I stopped smoking when I did! Members of a high-rise condo along the Mississippi River in Minneapolis, MN just voted to make their building smoke free. From this point forward, new owners will not be able to smoke in the building, in the common areas, in the garages or even on their private balconies. La Rive, a 118 unit building will allow present smokers to be grandfathered in, but any new owners in the building will have to abide by the new law. 23% of the tenants voted against the ban.
I was just thinking about writing a blog about how cigarette smoking can really hurt the value of a property, particularly when there are heavy smokers in a house. Not so long ago I showed one out in the country and you could smell the smoke from the front step with both a screen door and a steel front door. It is hard to get the smell of smoke out of a house. But...tell me I can't do it, and we have a whole new ball game!
What are your thoughts? Do ya'll have laws like this where you live and do business? Is it a problem for you? Thanks in advance!
