Just outside of downtown Kannapolis, Castle & Cooke Development purchased the Kannapolis Country Club and a large tract of land off of West A Street. Love Golf Design founded by golf great Davis Love III was hired to redesign the existing golf course. The entire course will also include new sod upon completion. They are truly going the extra mile to make the refinished golf club that will be called "The Club at Irish Creek" one of the best in the Carolina's.
As for the Luxury Home community it will consist of 585 home sites and phase one at the country club should break ground in the early fall. The builder program will consist of 15 to 20 of the area's finest luxury home builders and all plans will go through an architectural review. Homes will range from the $500's to $1.5 million. Amenities will have a family atmosphere and will include a junior Olympic sized swimming pool, a silo slide, kiddie pool, splash pool, lazy river, sports court, seven tennis courts, a glade park, gardens, conservatory and greenhouse. Walking trails and pocket parks will also be found throughout the community.
This major project should really put Kannapolis on the map and turn this once small North Carolina town into one the finer places in the Charlotte area to relocate. It will truly have it all when completed. Castle & Cooke is looking to attract high income professions and create an alternative to the difficult commute to Charlotte. It will be interesting to see the transformation of a town.
