I have been to several really cool homes these last few days. Here are some pictures of the wonderful hardwood floors. Check them out!
The first one is a medallion in a beautiful home in Rye I went to see yesterday. This is in her entryway. She has many really cool and unique festures in her home with a whole handpiainted dinig , a library with herringbone floors and cherry paneling, and lovely handpainted wood bureaus in the bathroom. Oh, and the kitchen has an open floor plan and I love the cabinets.
The second one is from a historic home in Dobbs Ferry. It was built in 1880 and it is just wow. It takes you back to a different era. The parquet is intricate and the rooms have inlaid borders made of oak, walnut and maple - different borders in different rooms. This is quartersawn white oak, and it will look amazing when it's fully restored. The ceilings are so high. I should have measured - at least 12 ft but I have a hunch maybe more like 14 ft or even more. Tons of fireplaces and each unique. I think this is also the highest basemolding I have ever seen on walls. My customer is moving in tomorrow. But, shortly thereafter, they will be refinishing these floors and we put together a maintenance plan so we can preserve these unique floors.
These may not be the best pictures and the wood needs to be refreshed with a good sand & refinish, and I'm hoping to see what they look like afterwards.
