Here's a quick and easy way to find more people to follow...and in return many will follow you back.
Generally, it is believed that having more followers is a good thing. There are conflicting opinions on whether just having MORE followers matters. But, for sure, having more interaction matters (i.e. more comments, more shares, more plusses). And, generally when you have more followers, you will have more of these interactions.
You can search for people just by hunting and pecking and putting their name in the search bar. Or if you see someone you know commenting on post, if you hover over their name, you can also add them to one (or more) of your circles.
But, here's an even faster way...follow a whole circle in 1 swoop! And, here's how to do it. Here's a link to my Active Rain Circle. You may be interested in this group since you'll know many of the members already. I always think it's helpful and more fun to interact with some people you already know, especially at the beginning.
After you click on the link above, then click "add people." You'll then see it says "type a new or existing circle name." So name your circle...you could even call it "Active Rain" or if you already have an Active Rain circle you can add it to your existing Active Rain circle. Then scroll down and hit the blue button that says "create or add to circles" and voila you have followed 350 or so people in an instant!
Once you start following some people like this, many of them will follow you back.
You can also search for other shared circles and do the same over time. There are some realtor circles, some SEO circles and various special interest circles (e.g. science lovers, cat lovers, photographers.) Just search away. (although I do think they put a cap on how many people you can circle in one day...so you may need to wait until the next day if you follow too many people at once.
