Status of Foreclosures in Miami

The status of foreclosures in the Miami Real Estate market remains ambiguous. On the one hand, the year-to-date REO closings in Miami-Dade County is significantly lower in 2013 compared to this time last year (i.e., 3,200; 3,537, respectively). On the other hand, according to reports in Bloomberg, Miami's foreclosure rate ranked at the top of all major U.S. metropolitan areas last month. In short, although the proverbial REO "shadow market" is still slugging away at a slow rate, Miami seems to be on a fast pace compared to the Nation.  Within our own team, we are currently working with the largest number of foreclosures as a team than we have had in the past two years.  As a company, we are currently working with over 89 properties which is also substantially higher than the last few years.
