Rain Rain Everywhere...Happy days are Here Again on Nebraska Farm Land

The skies have been opening up on the fields of Central Nebraska and nourishing our crops with life sustaining water!

Each drop...every single one...helps alleviate the drought we have been in the past 2 years.

2011 was quite wet all year and then in early fall the rains (and snows) stopped and we dried out.

2012 was tough for anyone who did not have irrigation to their crops...

Nebraska Farm Land - Dawson County

...and the pastures and cattle herds really felt it.

2013 started ok and then dried out and now over the last week we have received million dollar rains.

Sadly...it may be too late for the dry land crops...but many farmers remain optimistic that they still might have at least some crop.

More rain is predicted...and with the crops reaching maturity where they really need water, we hope that we can catch some 1 and 2" rains.

But please leave the wind and hail behind!!

Until next time...

Glad you the bread basket is finally getting rain.  Here in Western NC, I think we've had rain almost every day since last December!  I've never seen the Smoky's so green.

Mike, I am so glad you folks are getting more rain these days.  We need those crops from you folks.  Green is good!

As far as Texas is concerned... we've got lots of lakes surrounding Fort Worth/Dallas... and yes, their levels are UP!

By the way... how is that volley ball star of yours doing?

Hi Alan and Michele...Yes rain is a huge welcome sight and stress reliever unless it comes in  3 or more inches with frozen blobs falling from the sky!!

Mike: In Missouri we were also in the critical drought of 2012. So far this year, though, we are only slightly under what is normal precipitation. Here's hoping all of the Midwest can pull out of the drought that has hurt so many.

In east Texas we are experiencing a drought again. It is not as bad as it was in 2011. That was some kind of CRAZY with fires breaking out all around us!
