I have a great deal of respect for professional Home Stagers. They have a unique gift to transform a space. Home Staging is so much more than decor. It's about maximizing the potential and highlighting the features of a home.
I recently had the opportunity to interview and chat with one of my FAVORITE professional Home Stagers, Shar Sitter.
My first question for Shar was, "What's involved in a consultation?" That's what my home sellers' want to know. She spends approximately 2 hours walking room to room making suggestions along that way about possibly painting, moving or removing furniture pieces, adding items to create a WOW factor, cleaning tips and repairs as needed.
She may actually move some furniture around in a key room or how to stage a bookcase, to demonstrate the power of good staging. When the seller can see the difference it's that much easier to impress upon them the value of staging.
I asked her how she approaches delicate subjects such as de-cluttering, de-personalizing or decor preferences. These topics are always a challenge for me when speaking with a home seller. At the first meeting, Shar explains the difference between staging and decorating. She makes it fun and interactive and she also shares that she will have to stage her own home when she's ready to sell!
I've enjoyed getting to know Shar through her ActiveRain blogging. She is a compassionate and giving person. She's well organized which make a major difference in the success of her business. Although, she did seem to have a challenge with her pillow inventory a while back!
