Bannister is a charming neighborhood of homes that sits in the heart of Waldorf.  Established in the 1970’s and one of the original neighborhoods of St. Charles, Bannister was well planned out with community amenities that are second to none.  Bannister was designed to provide its residents with wooded, park like living areas but also convenient to services like shopping, entertainment and commuting.  Mature trees line the streets and the yards providing peacefulness for all to enjoy.

What’s the Neighborhood Like?

 

The homes you would expect to find in Bannister include apartments, town homes, duplexes, condominium triplexes and single family homes.  Most of the homes were originally built in the 1970’s but it is not uncommon for one of these homes to have gone through a renovation once or twice.  Some of the smaller homes offer two bedrooms but generally these homes average between three and four bedrooms.  Lot sizes vary in Bannister based on the type of home you own but can range from ¼ acre to a ½ acre which allows room for plenty of outdoor enjoyment.  Bannister also has amenities like a pool, tennis courts and play ground at the community center.

 

What’s going on Near the St. Charles Bannister Neighborhood?

 

St. Charles Bannister is minutes away from shopping, restaurants, schools and entertainment venues.  Smallwood Village, which is home to a grocery store, a pharmacy, a couple of specialty restaurants and some office space are within walking distance from St. Charles Bannister.  St. Charles Towne Center, a two level mall with anchor stores that include Macy’s, Dicks, JC Penney, Kohl’s, Sears and Macy’s Home Store, also offers 130 specialty shops, restaurants and a food court.  It is surrounded by a movie theater, banks and additional restaurants.  The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs Stadium, which is home to the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs minor league baseball team and host to various events throughout the year, is less than five miles away as well.  If golf is your sport, then a two mile trip will land you at the White Plains Golf Course, a public golf course.  For more information about recreation in Charles County, please visit www.charlescounty.org.
